Experimental investigation of waste tyres pyrolysis gas desulfurization through absorption in alkanolamines solutions

چکیده

Pyrolysis of waste tyres produces harmful hydrogen sulfide and other mercaptan compounds as by-products. The current study is concerned with the purification hydrogen-rich pyrolysis gas from that present in a great amount (up to 5.1% mol at 420 °C), mercaptans are also problematic impurities. method proposed absorption by alkanolamines which one most economical methods applied natural sweetening. However, it has not been adopted tyre yet. Two organic absorbents were tested, diethanolamine (DEA), N-methyldiethanolamine (MDEA) well theirs blends, various concentrations. application 30 wt% DEA water reduced H2S emission 98%. In turn, 40 MDEA aqueous solutions 97%. best results produced when was mixed (1:1 vol ratio) allowed removal 99% gas. Moreover, maximum 7 ppm, level below 5 ppm kept for experiments duration. Finally, this mixture significantly concentrations sulfur-containing such methyl carbonyl (a minimum 98%), ethyl (∼90%), carbon disulphide (by more than 99%). Thus, solvent v/v) can be recommended potential desulfurization

Pyrolysis of waste tyres: a review.

Approximately 1.5 billion tyres are produced each year which will eventually enter the waste stream representing a major potential waste and environmental problem. However, there is growing interest in pyrolysis as a technology to treat tyres to produce valuable oil, char and gas products. The most common reactors used are fixed-bed (batch), screw kiln, rotary kiln, vacuum and fluidised-bed. Th...
